People will walk into your life for no other reason than to catch a glimpse of yours when they're bored with their own. They will drain every beautiful thing about you and leave you empty because they can..and because you let them. Don't let them. Don't let them take one (or more) of the beautiful pieces that makes you who you are. Don't extend them the courtesy of finding out what makes you beautiful, what makes you tick. When your gut is screaming "No!", it's okay to listen. It's okay to protect yourself. It's okay to walk away. You don't owe them an explanation. You don't owe them anything. But you owe yourself the art of self preservation. Don't let them take your shimmer just to add a little life to their dull existence. You've worked for that shimmer. Hold on tight.
People are assholes. That's not going to change. Take care of yourself, because no one else will.
